openSUSE 11.1 obsahuje více než 230 nových vlastnosti [8], vylepšení YaST, velké aktualizace GNOME 2.24.1, KDE 4.1.3 i KDE 3.5.10, OpenOffice.org 3.0 a více volnosti s úplně novou licencí [9], Liberation fonty a openJDK.
